Drink This + Dress in That #9

By stylemelbourne

Combining my love for a new sartorial find with a love of being a barfly, I’ll be pairing a fabulous drink from a Melbourne bar with a fashion item inspired by the concoction on a semi-regular basis…

Drink This: Manuka Bazooka (42 Below Manuka Honey Vodka, chilli-infused 1800 Anejo tequila, cherry & lemon juice, egg white) by Danny Hanratty at The Carlton. Fire up before LMFF with this cocktail that qualified for the semi-finals of the recent Cocktail World Cup.

Dress in That: This brand new, spicy, little earring design by Owl Of Eden. Perhaps you could wear it to the official afterparty for LMFF’s National Graduate showcase next Wednesday evening at the aforementioned The Carlton?

Find The Carlton at 193 Bourke Street in Melbourne. Shop Owl of Eden here. For more inspiration on where to go or what to wear in Melbourne this weekend click here.

Yarra Lane spices up South Yarra

City style laneway opens in sophisticated South Yarra
Just a short stroll around the corner from the South Yarra train station, is the new Yarra Lane precinct where you can indulge in Melbourne’s famous laneway culture with third wave cult cafes, fine dining and boutiques.

Mopho Noodle Bar
Take your tastebuds on a journey to the Far East at Mopho Noodle, the newest venture to be opened by St Ali’s, Salvatore Malastesta. Mopho is an Asian inspired noodle destination headed up by Executive Chef, Benjamin Cooper (ex Nobu, Ezard and Longrain). The menu offers Pan Asian cuisine such as flavoursome fried tofu, braised brisket redangs, chow meins and classic hokkein noodle dishes.

Owl of Eden
If you like to collect and adorn yourself with unique, colourful and carefully crafted costume jewellery, you’ll be delighted to stumble across Owl of Eden and its chic concept store. Louisa, the designer and owner of Owl of Eden handcrafts the jewels from quality locally sourced products, Swarovski crystals and precious stones to create exotic and edgy designs.

Story In A Cup
Create your very own personalised self-serve frozen yoghurt dessert or smoothie combination to tantalize your tastebuds at Story In A Cup. The probiotic frozen yoghurt is 98% fat free, gluten free and made fresh daily in store. With six different flavours of frozen yoghurt and up to 40 scrumptious toppings to choose from, make a delicious snack or healthy dessert to help you power on through your day.

Outpost
Outpost Café has already earned itself a enviable reputation for teaming up the finest of locally sourced Victorian produce by Head Chef, Paul Jewson (hailing from London’s Terrence Conran’s Bluebird and Soho House), with St. Ali’s finest Cup of Excellence and single estate coffees. The delectable breakfast and lunch menu changes daily, but a classic favourite is the slow roast thyme and garlic pork belly with chilli jam and sweet potato mash.

Veloce
Further down Yarra Laneway – the new owners of Veloce Restaurant Bar, have revamped and refreshed the classic car Dutton’s café into a stylish Italian pit-stop, offering home made melanzane, fresh salads and an extremely popular ‘happy hour’. Even if you’re not into classic cars, you’ll enjoy the relaxed and friendly vibe, smooth coffee and the free bottle of water with your take away coffee.

Yarra Lane – runs between Yarra Street and Claremont Street (Toorak Road end)

ATELIER swarovski

If you didn't already know, our friends at Swarovski bring out small collaboration ranges each year using different accessories and fashion designers. The ranges are exclusive and distribution is limited. This years designers were unveiled at one of our favourite stores in Paris colette and fashion blogger and fashion film extraordinaire, Diane Pernet of 'A shaded view on fashion' was there to snap some photos and report on the launch.
